Announcements
The Allen Institute for Brain Science released its latest updates to its online resources on April 2, 2009. The updates include one new resource and significant expansions of others. Highlights include:
- The Allen Spinal Cord Atlas has been expanded to genome-wide coverage with new anatomic reference atlases for both P4 and P56 mouse spinal cords. Expression data is for approximately 17,000 genes. This Atlas now offers genome-wide coverage and is complete.
- Allen Developing Mouse Brain Atlas has been expanded with additional expression data and new anatomic reference atlases for each of the seven developmental stages covered. This release brings the total available genes to 1,000.
- The Mouse Diversity Study comprises a new data resource for exploring variability of gene expression across sex and genetic background. Expanding on the Allen Mouse Brain Atlas of the adult C57Bl/6J mouse brain, this resource includes data from seven strains of mice, as well as from female C57Bl/6J mice at three stages of estrus.
- The Human Cortex Study, now complete, has been expanded to include a new data set assaying the dorsolateral prefrontal cortex in both control and schizophrenia cases.
- The Transgenic Mouse Study includes additional data for several new mouse lines.
Our next public release will be in October 2009. We will continue to add additional data and application features for the Allen Developing Mouse Brain Atlas.
